Fairey Swordfish in Glen Callater

In May 00 after visiting the Canberra site we continued on to the head of Glen Callater to look for the remains of a Swordfish, I've little information on this plane and don't even know the date when it crashed. The site proved pretty elusive as we trudged through the usual sleet and rain, eventually we found the main site on a steep side of the Glen hidden by a rocky outcrop.

Myself standing on the steep slope where the aircraft lies.

See the Big Picture!

Flash looks up at the twisted framework.

See the Big Picture!

Myself examining part of the wing framework.

See the Big Picture!

Only the metalwork of the plane remains the fabric having rotted away.

See the Big Picture!
