Grave of German Airman at Lennoxtown Churchyard

In April 06 I had to attend a five day course of Norwegian Legislation in Clydebank. This can only go down as the most tedious five days of my life where even my basic will to live was sorely tested! Anyway it's an ill wind that blows no good and this course gave me the chance to visit somewhere that I'd been meaning to go to for a long time. I'd heard from sources online that a German Airman's grave was still to be found at Lennoxtown. I believe three of the crew were originally buried in the graveyard but after the war two were exhumed and taken back to Germany. Anyway, after a day of unmitigated boredom, it was into the car and off to Lennoxtown to see what I could find.

The fine but now derelict Kirk at Lennoxtown on the lovely evening I arrived.

I found the grave almost immediately, sadly in a lonely wee corner, I guess when the burial took place in 1941 the Germans weren't exactly too popular. Nice to see the poppies there.
A close up of the simple stone.
